Accessibility

We aspire to have MountainBytes accessible to everyone - and while we are still learning ourselves, please always feel free to reach out to us if you require any additional accommodations to enjoy your weekend with us!

Please consider updating your flu and COVID-shots, as our party is in February in the last drafts of flu season and happening mostly inside.

Here are some of the features that our location, our team and partners already have in place:

  • Mixed-gender teams at the Infodesk and extended orga-area so you can pick the person you're most comfortable with
  • Trained medical staff at the infodesk

  • Power-plugs on every table and in sleeping area to connect medical and/or support devices

  • Stage presentations are kept below 100 dB(A) and should only exceed 90dB(A) for short periods.

  • No music through the main PA during sleeping hours (ca 2am)

Inclusion

MountainBytes wants to be a safe space for all its visitors. Our rules are simple:

  • Be excellent to each other (if you need it spelled out: do not harrass, demean, threaten or otherwise make other people uncomfortable).
  • Do not damage or steal other people's property (that absolutely includes the location itself)
  • Respect other people's boundaries and space. Ask before hugging, touching or standing overly close to someone.
  • If in doubt, just leave a situation that made the other person uncomfortable. Apologise, you'll be surprised how little it hurts to do so.

We will make use of our domiciliary rights if we feel the need to protect our visitors' safety and enjoyment. In other words: if you cannot abide by the above or we have reason to think you can't, we reserve the right to kick you out.

All organisers at MountainBytes are responsible to upkeep this code of conduct. While the Infodesk should be your first point of contact, you are always free to chose any organiser (recognisable by the lanyards with nametag) you feel could better handle the situation for you.

Yes, we are busy, but not busy enough to ignore you not feeling okay.

All Creatures Are Welcome.

This includes, but is not limited to people who are neurodivergent, racialised, economically marginalised, diverging from the gender-binary or the gender assigned at birth, displaced or migrated, having physical or mental accommodation needs. And so, so much more.

You will find that in our organiser team, we check a number of these boxes too, but of course we have our blindspots, too.

We are still learning, so give us grace and help us in the process if you can.
